Why This Matters

Government has made unprecedented progress reducing the province’s deficit, moving towards balancing the budget, and invested $407 million in its Rainy Day Fund at the end of 2018/19, to ensure money is there when Manitobans need it most.

This contribution brings the balance of the Rainy Day Fund to $572 million – the highest level since 2010/11. These funds will be available for future operating requirements, and to address unforeseen circumstances encountered by the Manitoba government.
